Methodology
These counts come from the CMS Doctors and Clinicians National Downloadable File (DAC), the same public dataset CMS uses to populate Medicare Care Compare. Each row is one clinician at one practice location; "clinician count" figures are unique National Provider Identifiers (NPIs), so a clinician who practices at multiple locations is counted once nationally but may appear in more than one city or state total.
This is a count of Medicare-registered clinicians, not a quality rating — CMS enrollment data doesn't grade a provider's outcomes, wait times, or patient satisfaction. It also doesn't confirm a provider is currently accepting new patients. Always call ahead.
