AcceptsMedicare.com is an independent directory that helps you find a doctor or clinician enrolled in Medicare — someone who can bill Original Medicare for your care. We're not affiliated with Medicare.gov, CMS, or any government agency; we organize the government's own public data so it's easier to search by city and specialty.
Where our data comes from
Our listings are built from the CMS Doctors and Clinicians National Downloadable File (DAC) — the same public dataset behind Medicare's own Care Compare tool, maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. As of our last refresh (2026-06-26), that's 1,616,566 unique Medicare-enrolled clinicians across all 50 states, DC, and the territories.
What "accepts Medicare" means here
Every clinician listed is enrolled in Medicare according to CMS records, meaning they're eligible to bill Original Medicare (Part B) for covered services. Most also show as accepting "assignment" — agreeing to take Medicare's approved amount as full payment, so you owe only your deductible and 20% coinsurance. A smaller group shows as "may" accept assignment, which can vary by visit. Enrollment is not the same as currently accepting new patients — that can change day to day, so always call first.
What this data doesn't tell us
The CMS file tells us a clinician's name, specialty, practice address, and Medicare assignment status — not whether they're taking new patients, their office hours, or whether a specific Medicare Advantage plan is in their network. For Medicare Advantage, your plan's own directory is the one that matters; this site is built from Original Medicare enrollment data.
How we build and refresh the site
We download the CMS file, keep unique clinician-location records, group them by state, city, and specialty, and rebuild the site on a regular schedule. Every page shows the data refresh date so you know how current it is. Practices open, close, and move, so a listing is a strong signal — not a live guarantee. Always call ahead to confirm hours and whether they're accepting new Medicare patients.

- We don't give medical or insurance advice. This is directory and program information only. For medical questions, talk to a provider; for plan questions, talk to Medicare or your plan.
- We don't book appointments or collect your health information. The site is free and needs no account.
Who reviews this
Content is maintained and reviewed by the AcceptsMedicare.com editorial team, which checks program facts (what Original Medicare covers, assignment rules, plan differences) against Medicare.gov and CMS sources and re-verifies them at least once a year. Feedback reports that flag a wrong or outdated listing are treated as fact-check triggers.
